Q. What does Garden State Snoring Center do?
A. Garden State Snoring Center specializes in minimally invasive in-office treatments for snoring.
Q. What treatment options do you offer?
We offer a variety of minimally invasive treatment options and continually incorporate new options as they become available. Unlike dentists with oral appliances, or sleep labs with CPAP, we offer a variety of solutions such as the Pillar Procedure, Home Sleep Studies and uvulectomy. GSSS also offers a revolutionary procedure for Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) called the Repose Tongue & Hyoid Suspension (THS). More information on this procedure will be available on our website very soon.
Q. Is Garden State Snoring Solutions a Sleep Lab?
No, we specialize in practical solutions for snoring and mild sleep apnea, not overnight sleep studies or CPAP. During your consultation, our professional staff will determine if you are a candidate for the services we offer.
Q. Is Garden State Snoring Solutions in network with my insurance plan?
The Initial Consultation will be billed to your insurance company provided that it is “in-network”. We do not accept Oxford/United Healthcare. When making your consultation appointment, please ask our representative about participation in your insurance. The procedures we offer for snoring are not covered by insurance because snoring is considered “cosmetic”. But, if you have a Flex Spending Account or a Health Savings Account, you can likely pay for your services with “pre-tax dollars”. Our billing department will be glad to work with you on a reasonable payment plan or help you apply for Care Credit or CitiCard through our office.
Q. What is snoring?
Snoring is caused by vibration of soft tissue in the back of the throat. Snoring is very common, and can be the cause of significant relationship problems. Bed partners of snorers lose over an hour of sleep per night. Snoring couples report lower marital satisfaction and decreased sexual intimacy. Even single people suffer from snoring during social outings, business travel and vacations.
Q. What is Sleep Apnea?
Sleep Apnea is a serious medical condition characterized by loud snoring and repeated “sleep pauses” during which the patient stops breathing. It occurs when the soft tissue in the back of the throat vibrates enough to not only cause snoring, but to actually block off (obstruct) the airway. During these periods of obstruction, the oxygen level in the blood can drop to dangerously low levels.
Q. Is Sleep Apnea dangerous?
Yes! Sleep Apnea has been linked to increased risk for high blood pressure, heart attack and stroke. It is also associated with obesity and diabetes. In addition, because people with sleep apnea are often excessively tired during the day, they have a markedly increased risk of workplace and automobile accidents.
Q. How do I know what the best treatment plan is for me?
During your initial consultation our team of professionals will review your medical history, perform a physical exam and determine what treatment plan is in your best interest. All cases are different, therefore, treatments vary. Because we base your treatment plan, in part, on your medical history, we stress to our patients the need for complete honesty and candor in completing the forms we give you.
